Abstract
1,009,275. Heating air for combustion. STEIN & ROUBAIX. May 28, 1963 [June 8, 1962], No. 21300/63. Heading F4B. Combustion air for a furnace, particularly a soaking pit 2, is preheated in a refractory recuperator 13 followed by a metal recuperator 6. A fan 14 draws air through the refractory recuperator 13, which may be of earthenware, and is designed so that the pressure in the single gas and air circuits is substantially equal to prevent leakage, and delivers it to the metal recuperator 6. Fuel gas is preheated in a second metal recuperator 7, and the earthenware recuperator is arranged to be easily cleaned.
