Abstract
938,604. Vertical reheating furnaces. ZAVODY V. I. LENINA PLZEN NARODNI PODNIK. June 12, 1961 [July 4, 1960], No. 21072/61. Class 51 (2). A vertical reheating furnace comprises superimposed heating rings with parabolic inner surfaces in which burner inlets and exhaust duct outlets are arranged tangentially to the surface. Between the heating rings 2 are ribbed rings 5 which contain inlets 6 for a protective gas containing a combustible component which is burnt on the external surface of the protecting layer of gas by the combustion products entering the treatment chamber 1 through the burners 3. The combustion products pass out through the exhaust ducts 4, 10 into a ceramic recuperator 8 through a space into which extra air is admitted through jets 11 to complete combustion, then through a metallic recuperator 9 and finally out via an exhaust duct. The protective gas is circulated through the cells of the recuperator 8, through duct 7 and into the furnace through the inlet 6. There is also a draught controller 12 and a watercooled sealing ring 13.
