Abstract
911,919. Thermal regenerators. CUPODEL Ltd. June 17, 1960 [June 19, 1959], No. 21119/59. Class 64 (1). [Also in Group XII] An installation for heating blast air for use in blast furnaces comprises a Cowper stove or stoves arranged in parallel or in series with recuperators supplying heated air either into the hot blast supply line or into the hot blast supply line and also to the Cowper stove or stoves as combustion air. In one embodiment, Fig. 1 (not shown), a Cowper stove and a series of recuperators are arranged in parallel, the incoming blast being divided between them and mixed again in the hot blast supply line. A modification, Fig. 2, has three Cowper stoves 11 and four recuperators 12 arranged in parallel, the latter having connections 13 to the hot blast supply line 14, three of them also having connections 18 supplying combustion air to the stoves. The recuperator or recuperators supplying the combustion air are fed by a line 19 at a lower pressure than in the main blast line 10. Another modification, Fig. 3, has the recuperator installation 12 arranged in series with a pair of stoves 11 which latter may supply the hot gases used in the recuperators.
