Abstract

1,011,097. Burners. WISTRA OFENBAU G.m.b.H. May 22, 1962 [May 23, 1961], No. 19705/62. Heading F4T. In each of the combustion chambers 3, 4 of a burner, combustion takes place with an excess of air in one chamber and an excess of fuel in the other and further combustion of the excess air and excess fuel is effected when the two streams of gases from the chambers unite at the junction of the chamber nozzles 9, 10. The chambers 3, 4 are disposed in a refractory lining 1 within a casing 2. Air and fuel are controllably supplied to the chambers via pipes 6a, 6 and 5a, 5 respectively, one chamber being supplied with a surplus of air and the other with a surplus of fuel and the partly burned whirling mixtures pass flow straightening elements 11 prior to issuing from inclined discharge nozzles 9, 10. Bevelled flow dampers 12 are adjustably mounted adjacent the discharge nozzles. In another embodiment, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown) there is a single combustion chamber and the additional air or fuel required for complete combustion is supplied through a passage which has a nozzle inclined towards the chamber discharge nozzle and is adjacent the chamber. In a further embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown) the additional air or fuel is supplied through an annular jacket surmounting the chamber, and in a still further embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), the additional air or fuel is supplied through a tube axially disposed in the circular chamber.
