582,317. Gas fires. GAS LIGHT & COKE CO., ANDREW, L. W., and WATTS, H. Sept. 21, 1944, No. 18063. [Class 126] In a gas fire having burners opening into the bottom of a common combustion space, one or more thin vertical ribs project from the back of the fire and extend forwardly across part or whole of the width of the combustion space. Two thin vertical ribs 5 extend from the firebrick back 3 downwardly to the lowest horizontal refractory bar 1. Burners 7 below the central part of the fire are arranged to operate independently of burners 8 below the side portions.
