Abstract
785,786. Domestic open fireplaces. CASTLE CASTINGS, Ltd., and LAWRENSON, E. Aug. 17, 1954 [May 18, 1953], No. 13616/53. Class 126 A domestic fire front 1 of the so called continuous burning type is formed with holes 3 in the base portion 5 such that projections 11 of grate 9, Fig. 3 may be engaged therein. In order to allow dust to be easily removed from holes 3 they are broken through as at 7. The grate also has pivots (not shown) such that half-bricks 13, 15, of refractory material may be laid on the grate and swung into position along the front to thereby protect it from the fire. A gas burner 27 is arranged within the front such that flames from it do not impinge upon the grate structure, but pass through grate-slots 21. The half-bricks 13, 15 may be cemented together when in position.
