Abstract
524,242. Gas fires. PARKINSON STOVE CO., Ltd., and ANGUS, H. T. Jan. 25, 1939, No. 2539. [Class 126] The products of combustion from a gas fire are evacuated through openings in a refractory brick or block forming the back of the fire. Fig. 1 shows a gas fire with radiants a arranged above burners b and with a fire back c provided with holes or slots f through which combustion products pass into flues g, h. The fire back is extended outwardly at the top to close the top of the radiants. Fig. 2 shows a modification in which the fire back j forms the radiants. Passages n allow the combustion products from the burners k to pass to the flues p, q. A forward extension m is provided at the top of the fire back. The entrances to the passages n may be chamfered off. The passages in the fire back may be confined to one or more portions thereof and may be horizotal or inclined.
