Abstract
731,089. Incandescent gas fires. RADIATION, Ltd. Nov. 3, 1953 [Nov. 7, 1952], No. 28077/52. Class 126. A gas fire radiant comprises a number of superimposed solid refractory elements of annular form spaced apart sufficiently to lender visible parts of the glowing inner surface of the elements. Shallow slotted refractory blocks a spaced apart by projections d at their ends, are supported above a deeper slotted block a<SP>2</SP> forming a combustion chamber. The upper element a<SP>1</SP> of the radiant is in the form of a cap which closes wholly or partly the passage extending upwards through the assembly. The inner surfaces of the blocks a, a<SP>1</SP> are formed with projections e, Fig. 2, which are visible through the gaps between the elements. The outer surfaces of the blocks a are bevelled upwardly as shown -or downwardly. The combustion chamber a<SP>2</SP> is spaced from a plate h supported above the burner so that only sufficient air to maintain proper combustion is admitted. The radiant may be formed of circular annular blocks .'supported above a burner with a single nipple.
