Abstract

548,499. Gas fires. RADIATION, Ltd., and HARTLEY, H. July 30, 1941, No. 9702. Addition to 523,423. [Class 126] The gas fire of the parent Specification is modified by providing the means for restricting the flow of air below the level at which the gases are discharged from the burner outlets into the combustion chamber. In Fig. 1 the air restricting baffle h is shown slightly below the tips of the burner nipples e. The combustion chamber formed between solid refractory back wall a and the solid refractory wall c at the base of the fret b may be sufficiently deep tc accommodate the whole of the burner tube d and the baffle h may be arranged either just below the tips of the burner nipples or at the bottom of the combustion chamber. The wall c may be parallel to or inclined inwardly or outwardly relatively to the back wall a, or the adjacent inner surfaces of the walls a c may be convex.
