Abstract
361,485. Internal flues of steam boilers. HUMPHREYS & GLASGOW, Ltd. and GRIGGS, A. R., Humglas House, Carlisle Place, London. Sept. 19, 1930, No. 28048. [Class 123 (ii).] An internal chamber 4 through which heating gases pass and extending through the boiler steam space has a protective lining carried within or by a metal tube or supporting frame suspended within the chamber adjacent to but not in continuous contact with that part 3 of the chamber wall within the steam space and terminating above the bottom of the chamber so as to be free to expand downwardly. In the form shown a gas inlet duct 6 constitutes the tube and lining which is supported by a bottom flange 7. In a modification the tube or frame has ribs or fins contacting with the chamber wall so as to conduct some heat to the boiler water space. The gases entering through the duct 6 may comprise combustion products from the recuperative chambers of a water gas set, any remaining combustible matter being burnt on admission of air into the chamber 4.
