[Class 126] The stream of hot gases rising vertically from a gas burner a arranged in or below the lower part of an oven are deflected laterally away from the oven wall b by passage through an opening d or an. elongated nozzle formed with a substantially vertical upstanding strip f producing a condition of asymmetry on opposite sides of the stream. The burner is arranged in a chamber g provided with air inlets h and arranged on the underside of the oven bottom e. Alternatively the deviation of the stream may be produced by an integral or separate part f<SP>1</SP> extending horizontally or a convex part f extending upwardly from the side of the nozzle opening remote from the neighbouring oven wall.
