Abstract

537,189. Gas Cookers. SOUTH METROPOLITAN GAS CO., and CHANDLER, D. Dec. 19, 1939, No. 32507. [Class 126] The base of the oven of a gas cooker is closed by a plate 7 except for an aperture into which opens a combustion chamber 9 in which burn luminous flame non-atmospheric gas jets 10. The combustion products circulating in the oven pass through apertures 11 in the inner walls 12 of the oven to flue outlets 14 in the outer walls 13. A curtain 15 of aluminium foil is hung between the walls 12, 13. The hot plate 1 is provided with a removable circular part to leave an opening 4 above a burner 2 having a " pepper-box refractory insert in its head 3. Prongs 5 for supporting a cooking vessel project inwardly into the opening 4. The gas taps 31 are arranged at the back of the cooker and operated by thumb pieces 32 at the front of the cooker through rigid connections 33.
