Class 126 In a firegrate for a domestic cooker or stove having a housing containing the grate proper 1 and an ashpit and provided with means for shaking the grate within the housing, the grate 1 is formed with lugs 3 engaging guides 2 projecting from the sides of the housing and abutments 4 project inwardly from the housing below the level of the guides 2 so that when the grate is drawn forward it may be swung about the lugs 3 until the back of the grate comes against the abutments 4 and when the grate is drawn further forward the lugs 3 leave the guides 2 and the grate is free to drop into the ashpit. The grate 1 has a lug 6 depending from the front and provided with a slot for engagement with a shaker inserted through a slot 8 in the fire door 9. A cover 10 is provided for slot 8. To clear the grate, the fire door 9 is opened, and the grate is drawn forward till the back of the grate clears the rear supports 11, and then tilted about the lugs 3. The guides. 2 are below the normal level of the grate, and the lugs 3 project downwardly from it.
