472,889. Domestic fireplaces. HELPS, G. Dec. 28, 1935, No. 34134/34. [Class 126] A structure detachably fitting an open fireplace comprises, in the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a fuel hopper supported on the hearth by side walls 7, and a bottom plate 11 on which is carried a separate fire-grate 12, the rear part of which extends into the space between the walls 7 ; alternatively, the bottom plate 11 may form the fuel support. The canopy 14 may be hinged at the bottom, as shown, to give access to the charging-door 13 of the hopper. Fig. 3 shows a modification without a bottom plate and with side supporting legs 21 between which the separate grate fitting stands. The structure is retained in position at the top by pins passing through a flange 22 to a plate 24 secured to the brickwork. The front 17 of the hopper projects in front of the chimney breast, and a smoke door 16 is provided to discharge smoke to the chimney when the feeding-door is opened. The discharge of fuel from the hopper may be regulated by a door or grid.
