Abstract

464,104. Grates for domestic fireplaces. CLARKE, S. J. Oct. 9, 1935, No. 27897. [Class 126] A hollow cross-bar 6 forming the front member of a metal frame supporting the bottom grating 10 of a domestic fireplace is provided in its underside with an air opening and in its back with openings 9 above the level of the grating, so that air can pass through the crossbar to the fire. The bar 6 may be of inverted channel section, with its rear flange 8 resting on a cross-piece 3, or may be a rectangular tube. The sides 1 and rear 2 of the frame form the corresponding parts of an ash-pit. Flanges 13 at the sides direct ash into the pan 14. The grating 10 is associated with side-bricks 15 with hollow top surfaces. Specification 439,281 is referred to.
