Abstract
908,082. Shaker grates. DUNSLEY HEATING APPLIANCE CO. Ltd. March 10, 1961 [March 10, 1960], No. 8430/60. Class 126. A domestic fireplace of the type in which combustion air is supplied from outside the building through a pipe below floor level is provided with a shaker grate 22 mounted on a ledge 24 and ribs 26 of a frame 20 above a well 10. The grate is shaken from side to side by a lever 30 which engages a recess 28 in the front of the grate 22. The lever 30 is attached to the same spindle 18 as a butterfly damper 16 in the air supply duct 14 so that the same handle may be used to shake the grate and control the combustion air supply. A removable cover 36 is mounted above the grate in a recess 38 of the frame 20. This cover extends all round the grate and prevents ash falling into the spaces between the grate and the frame 20.
