968,036. Ash removal. F. FISHER. Aug. 19, 1963 [May 18, 1962], No. 19243/62. Heading F4W. A domestic fireplace comprises a grate 12 below which is disposed an ashwell 14, containing an ashpan 10, and a duct 24, housing a screw conveyer 30, which passes under the floor 26, through an outside wall, and which is rotated by the handle 34 connected to the conveyer spindle 32. The ashes are discharged via opening 36 into a removable container 40. A short duct 42, provided with a damper 44, admits air beneath the grate. In a further embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), air is admitted through a duct 48 contained by the conveyer shaft and pipework 52 in which a damper 54 is disposed.
