Abstract

967,323. Supplying under floor air to fireplaces. E. R. HINE. Nov. 28, 1961 [Aug. 29, 1960], No. 29699/60. Heading F4W. Air is supplied to an underfloor draught fireplace through one or more units 1, Fig. 1, built in to external walls and having a light metal flap valve 4 behind the inlet grating 3 so that the pressure of the external air opens the valve 4, while the valve closes under air pressure from inside. The units 1 may be connected by ducts 10, Fig. 4, to a chamber 6 beneath the fire. The chamber 6 may have an inlet 11 at floor level, Figs. 5 and 6, with a flap valve 13, and the air inlets 8 to the chamber 6 may have flap valves 12. The chamber 6 communicates with the under grate space of the fire through an outlet 7, and may have a fan 14 blowing air to the fire.
