Abstract

1,132,385. Hearths; surrounds for open fireplaces. RADIATION Ltd. 5 May, 1967 [25 April, 1966], No. 17971/66. Heading F4W. An open fireplace comprises a fire-box, a boiler 2, a projecting hearth and a surround formed as a single unit, the hearth having a liftup portion 8 giving access to the ashpit. The hearth may be raised above floor level, and an ashpan 10 has a handle 11, and a removable cover 12 which can be stowed within the hearth. The surround is provided with removable decorative panels 5, and the hearth has a wooden curb. A fan may be arranged to supply combustion air to the space below the hearth and grate through an inlet 15.
