746,395. Domestic fireplaces. CHATWINS, Ltd. Dec. 2, 1954 [Jan. 1, 1954], No. 22/54. Class 126. An open fireplace, having a grate 3 inclined approximately at the angle of repose of the fuel and an enclosed ash space 7 fitted with primary air regulating means 9, is provided with a secondary air preheating passage 12 extending under the ash space and up the rear thereof to a forwardly directed outlet disposed above the fuel. The grate 3 is formed with projections 4 to prevent the fuel from sliding downwardly and piling up at the front.
