Abstract

832,840. Fire grates. FEDERATED FOUNDRIES Ltd. Aug. 25, 1958 [Sept. 2, 1957], No. 27521/57. Class 126 In an inset open firegrate, the ashpit door 20 has an upward extension 30 having a plurality of apertures 25 which, when the door is open, as shown, allow combustion air to pass downwardly and then through an opening 13 in the front 11 of the grate to the ashpit 14, whilst concealing the opening from view. When the door 20 is closed, a machined rib 24 on its inner surface engages a similar rib 19 along the upper edge of the opening 13. A hood 26 extending between the side cheeks of the grate and having side members 27 projecting beyond the sides of the door 20 further conceals the opening. A gas burner 17c is supported by a plate 17b for igniting fuel in the grate.
