Abstract

558,328. Firebridges ; dead plates. VICKERS, J. June 27, 1942, No. 8884. [Class 51 (i)] In a boiler furnace air from the ashpit enters a hollow plate 1 supporting a firebrick bridge 2 under the control of a sliding damper 3 and passes into a cavity 6 from which it is discharged over the fire through downwardly directed nozzles 7. Air also passes from the ashpit into a hollow deadplate 8 at the front of the grate under the control of a sliding damper and enters the furnace through slots in the top of the deadplate. The furnace is provided with firebars of the kind described in Specifications 558,326 and 558,327.
