Abstract
474,129. Multitubular steam boilers. SOMMERFELDT, E. March 1, 1937, No. 6065. Convention date, Feb. 28, 1936. [Class 123 (ii)] Return - tube steam boilers with one or more horizontal or slightly inclined combustion chambers 4 extending from the upper part of a vertical combustion chamber 3 to the smoke box at the boiler front have vertical water-tubes 5, 9 in the combustion chambers and the vertical combustion chamber is adapted to be readily dismounted in one piece, its back end having a wall 8 of heat insulating material. Two or more vertical combustion chambers may be provided each connecting a furnace with a corresponding horizontal combustion chamber. The side plates of adjacent combustion chambers may be stayed by fire-tubes.
