Fuel-economizers; boilers, arrangement of.-A fuel-economizer for standing on a fireplace grate comprises three fireclay blocks which, when placed together, enclose an open-ended rectangular space for the reception of a boiler. As shown, the economizer comprises a bottom block 1 on which stand a front block 6 and a back block 11, the latter of which may be made in two parts, as shown in Fig. 1. The bottom block is formed with a central opening 3 in the front edge leading to a recess 4 in the upper face, and with an opening 2 at the rear. The front block is provided with inclined holes 7 and with two vertical ribs or partitions 8 on the inner face; at the lower edge is a gap 10 above the opening 3 in the bottom block. The back block is formed with a central tapering passage 12, with the lower end of which the opening 2 in the bottom block coincides; the top portion, which may be separate from the remainder, is curved and provided with a flue 13. The passages 14 at each side of the passage 12 are connected with the recess 4 in the bottom block by cut-away portions 15. A boiler 16 is enclosed in the space between the blocks, and when not required is replaced by a block of the same shape.
