Abstract

501,976. Furnace grates. ESKE, F. W. Sept. 7, 1937, No. 24442. [Class 51 (i)] A furnace grate consists of transverse bars 5 arranged side-by-side and provided with upper and lower passages 8, 15 which constitute, when the bars are assembled, upper longitudinal passages for delivering air through openings 7 in the fuel supporting surfaces of the bars to the fuel bed and lower longitudinal passages for delivering air to the rear of the fuel bed. Arcuate ribs 10 depend from the upper portions of the firebars. The firebars may be employed with a firebridge described in Specification 480,835. Specifications 469,799 and 482,221 also are referred to.
