[Class 51 (i)] In an underfeed stoker grate in which troughs housing reciprocating feeders alternate with downwardly inclined rows of tuyere blocks a, each of the latter is formed with a hollow b, inclined air passages f, and T-slots for engagement with key-members m secured to the grate-supporting frame i. The blocks are provided, at their respective ends, with interengaging projections and recesses d, e, and on their upper faces with a central ridge g. The air passages f are so disposed that they are substantially horizontal when the blocks are assembled, with the end passages of one block registering with the end passages of the adjacent blocks. Additional passages h are provided for the delivery of air from the passages f and hollow b to the troughs between the rows of blocks. The key-members m, engage, as shown in Fig. 7, in the slots c of an abutting pair of blocks except in the case of the uppermost block, the latter being thus readily removable to permit the remaining blocks in the row to be slid upwardly to enable any defective block to be lifted out and replaced.
