Abstract

Firebars.-Wedgeshape projections 4 and recesses 7 are arranged on each side of the web 2 of a firebar the projections and recesses on one side of the bar being staggered in relation to those on the other side, so that the projections on one bar engage with the recesses of an adjacent bar. The inner walls of the recesses are provided with inclined semi-conical grooves 8. Air passing from the ash-pit to the fuel on the grate is delivered through the spaces between the bars in the form of intersecting streams.
