Fire-bars and grates. - Fire-bars of the form shows in Figs. 1 and 2 are provided with downwardly and forwardly projecting webs 4 and with webs 2, 3 forming, when the bars are arranged transversely side by side within the furnace, longitudinal air conduits to which air is supplied by a fan or steam jet device. The air is delivered through the bars in various oblique directions.
