Abstract
379,237. Furnace grates. SULZER FR’RES SOC. ANON., Winterthur, Switzerland. March 10, 1932, No. 7199. Convention date, March 12, 1931. [Class 51 (i).] In a furnace grate modified for underfeed stoking air passes to the deep bed of fuel at the centre-of the grate through passages 8 in the firebars and to the thinner layers of fuel at the sides of the grate through angular passages 9 in the firebars under the control of dampers 11, 12 which dampers are so arranged that even when closed air may pass through the grate adjacent the bearers 5 for cooling them.
