Abstract

Smoke, consuming.-A number of boilers are so connected that the gases from one or more boilers pass through one or more other boilers, and a furnace of the first boiler, or preheated fresh air is supplied to those boilers which receive hot gases from preceding boilers. The mixture of hot gases and excess air from a boiler b. Fig. 1, is led into the furnace d of a boiler f, the gases from which serve to preheat the excess air supplied to the furnace of the boiler b. The boiler f may be followed by similarly connected boilers and fresh air for combustion may be supplied to these boilers. The hot gases from the furnace d, n, Fig. 3, of the boilers f, o are mixed just beyond the furnaces with gases from. the preceding boilers. The furnaces d, n are supplied with preheated air for combustion. The air supplied to a boiler furnace may be preheated by a part of the gases from the preceding boiler.
