Abstract

218,421. Bamber, H. W. April 25, 1923 Steam-generatorÀfurnaces.-A flash boiler consisting of a vertical annular chamber closed at the bottom is heated by burning solid or liquid, or both solid and liquid fuel in a down-draught furnace which heats one surface of the chamber directly, the furnace gases being led upwards in contact with the other surface and mixed with air for secondary combustion. The gases from the furnace f within an annular boiler a pass below the boiler and then upwardly through the flue g around the boiler to a smokebox h. Air for primary combustion passes through the upper part of a casing m, which is divided by a ring p, and then through tubes w traversing the smoke-box. Air for seoondarv combustion passes through the lower part of the casing and through openings v in the flue wall b. The gases may pass from a furnace around the boiler upwardly through the centre of the boiler.
