318,082. Baron, J. T., and Clarke, J. B. Dec. 22, 1928. Smoke and fumes, treating with steam.-Dust &c. is separated from flue gases by several steam spraying devices 3, 4 disposed in a passage 2 of the full dimensions of the outlet from the combustion chamber. Several steam jets at different levels direct dust &c. from the gas into a settling chamber 6 beneath the level of the lower edge of the junction of the flue with the shaft; the settling chamber is fitted with further steam jets 7.
