Abstract

287,800. Baldyzar, S. Oct. 5, 1927. Baffles.-A spark-arrester, particularly adapted for locomotives, comprises a water-cooled baffle formed by plates 11, 12 arranged transversely of the smoke-box and traversed by flues 13. Water is supplied to the baffle through the pipe 15 and discharges through small apertures 14 in the upper surfaces of the flues 13 to moisten the inner surfaces thereof and extinguish the sparks. A conical screen 7 reinforced by angle irons 9, 10 and terminating in a metal tip 8 extends downwardly from the smoke stack 6.
