Abstract

277,561. Verschueren, W. J. O. March 7, 1927.. Baffles.- The flow of combustion gases from the grate 1 is split up by an arch 3 in the chamber 2 into two vertical streams which are led into two horizontal passages a, b terminating directly opposite each other at such a distance apart that the gases strike against and mix with one another in a chamber c leading to the boiler or other place of use. The fuel is supplied through an opening 4 on to an inclined surface 5 where it is dried, and falls down a short step 7 on to a second inclined surface 8 from which it passes to the grate 1. Apertures 9 are provided in the side walls of the combustion chamber for the supply of secondary air, and forced draught may be supplied to the grate.
