Abstract

479,071. Firegrates. CURRYER, R. J., and SMOKE PREVENTION, Ltd. Aug. 7, 1936, Nos. 21773/36 and 1998/37. [Class 51 (i)] Hollow firebars 2 with openings 8 on the upper side for the admission of air to the fuel bed are provided with side fins 9 between which air is supplied to the fuel under natural draught from the ashpit. Air under forced draught is supplied to the bars through the pipe 10 by steam jets or a fan or air under natural draught may be admitted to the interior of the bars. The fins 9 may be set at an angle to the longitudinal direction of the bars. When the grate is formed of two or more lengths of bars, cross bearers 15 with tubular distance pieces 22 forming connections between the bars are provided. Packing rings 24 are arranged between the bars and bearers. Cleaning doors 12 are arranged at the ends of the rear bars or at the ends of the bars in a grate composed of bars of one length only.
