Abstract
515,275. Travelling grates. BENNIS COMBUSTION, Ltd.,'and BENNIS, A. W. May 28, 1938, No. 15958. [Class 51 (i)] In boilers having internal furnace flues, the upper run of a travelling chain grate A extends throughout the length of the flue B and the lower run extends beneath the boiler shell, air for combustion being supplied to the grate under forced draught through one or more ducts. As shown air enters beneath the grate at K and L and passes through compartments M to the grate under the control of dampers N. The ashes pass from the grate on to a stripper G and inclined surface H. Alternatively the grate may be extended through the rear wall of the boiler casing as shown in dotted lines.
