Abstract
732,546. Fireplaces. 'SMITH, W. H. March 12, 1953 [April 10, 1952], No. 9166/52. Class 126. In a fireplace the upper part of the fireback together with the side cheeks, above the level of the fuel bed, are formed of an integral one-piece firebrick member while the lower part on which this member rests and which is in contact with the fuel bed includes two side cheeks which are of briquettes. The fireplaces shown, Figs. 7 and 8, are constructed of briquettes of four different types a, b, c, d (Fig. 4), the upper part of the fireback of the fireplace of Fig. 8 comprising a backboiler and flue f, g. Figs. 5 and 7, illustrate two forms of a ribbed one-piece firebrick member e. The side cheek portions e<SP>1</SP> of the form shown in Fig. 5 may also be ribbed. Specification 695,079 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
