Class 126 In a domestic fireplace of the kind having a grate above a sunken ashpit, and an air supply to the space below the grate the grate is divided along a line c running from the back to the front, into two halves a, b, each half being flat in front and upwardly inclined at the back. Each half has a downwardly projecting strip g beneath its sloping part, near its rear and outside edges, the lower edge of which is level with the under surface of the front flat part of the grate. When the grate is to be used in a fireplace with a boiler with a ledge at a higher level at the back it may be formed without the strip g the back edge of the grate resting on the ledge.
