706,903. Firebacks for open fireplaces. DUNN, A. A. May 1, 1950 [March 25, 1949], No. 8165/59. Class 126 A fireback for an open fireplace has an upper reflecting surface 7, having an arched outline in front elevation and being of concave form in horizontal section, which inclines forwardly upwards to merge into a horizontal bulge 8 above which in turn merges into a top surface 9 inclining rearwardly upwards. The bulge is set back from the front of the fireback cheeks 13 and with the inclined surfaces above and below it curves concavely into the cheeks. The back may either be moulded in one piece or built up of small firebricks. The surface of the back may have superimposed on it corrugations, channels or ribs.
