Abstract

585,255. Domestic fireplaces. NEWTON, CHAMBERS, & CO., Ltd., and MORRIS, A. E. Jan. 11, 1945, No. 960. [Class 126] In a fireplace as shown in Specification 585,253 having an open grate and a flue, below and behind the boiler, which flue may be closed by means of a damper, the damper is movably mounted in a casing 11 which joins both the main flue 25 and the boiler flue 8 with the chimney-flue 9. The damper 12 is rockable about a thickened lower edge 26 which rests in a metal channel cemented to the top of the boiler 6. The free end of the L-shaped handle 27 abuts against the boiler front and locates the damper normally in an open position. The casing 1.1 has horizontal flanges and the side edges have depending ribs 30 in addition, which enable the casing to hold the side cheeks of the fireplace in position.
