235,005. Ure, G. A. June 17, 1924. Closed solid-fuel stoves; open fire-places; grates; boilers, arrangement of. - A fire-grate, more particularly for boiler-stoves, of the type which may be tilted both towards the front and the rear, and in which a pendant curtain-piece K is pivoted to the front to close the gap between it and the door, is pivoted at about its centre so that it may rock through a considerable arc, and is provided with an upturned and unpierced front portion G which in the lowermost position coacts with the ashpit front as shown. The curtainpiece K passes between guides L on the rear of the member J and is curved so that it folds beneath the front G of the grate as the latter is lowered. A detent M engaging holes N in the curtain-piece retains the grate in the desired position. For an open fire the grate is tilted forwards, the dampers Q, Q<1> opened, and the damper D closed; for a closed fire, the grate is tilted backwards, the positions of the dampers reversed, and the front opening S of the fire place is closed. The boiler is of saddle form having dependent side members and a damper-controlled flue through the top member.
