Abstract
195,313. Preston, G. H. July 3, 1922. Combined open fireplaces and cooking- stoves; dampers.-In a combined open fireplace and cooking-stove of the kind having a boiler b at the back and an oven c to one side of the grate, a single sliding damper operated by the canopy a' regulates both the boiler and oven flues. At the entance to the chimney e the flue c<2>, leading from the flue c<1> surroundng the oven, is located immediately behind the boiler flue b<1> and a partitioned box d, covering both flues, supports on its upper surface the sliding damper d<3> connected by a rod h with the canopy a<1>. When the canopy is pushed in to leave the minimum opening a<4>, Fig. 3, the major portion of the gases pass up the boiler flue b<1>; when the canopy is drawn forward the damper d<3> closes the boiler flue and the gases pass partly direct to the chimney and partly through the aperture c<3> in the side of the firebox into the flue c<4> leading to the oven bottom flue.
