Combined open fireplaces and cooking-stoves; dampers grates; boilers, arrangement of.-In a combination back-to-back range, the boiler 4 is formed with a recess 7 in the back, which, together with the back of the oven 2, constitutes a flue by which the gases pass to the top oven flue 6. In the construction shown, a tapering channel-shaped plate 19 resting on the boiler forms a flue 8 connecting the boiler and oven top flues, a damper 24 being situated at the top of the flue 8. The gases may also pass from the back of the fire to the oven bottom and side flues 10, 12, and thence to the oven top flue under control of sliding dampers 27, simultaneously operated by links 29 connected to a lever 30. The portion 34 of the grate under the boiler is supported on a removable stool 33<a> having brackets 35 which support the boiler 4.
