Cooking-stoves; open fireplaces; supports for articles to be heated; boilers, arrangement of.-The hollow trivet or hot-plate described in the parent Specification in connection with a combined open fireplace and cooking-stove is applied to fireplaces having no oven, and with or without a boiler. A modified construction which may be used with an oven is also described. In the fireplace shown in Figs. 3 and 4 no boiler is provided, and combustion products pass from the fire through a flue 11 beneath the hob 9 to the interior of the trivet 13, thence through a passage 12 below the hob 10 to a flue 8 in the firebrick backing, from which they pass to a flue 4 leading to the chimney. A back boiler may be provided, as described in the parent Specification. A damper may be provided at the front of the flue 11. In the construction shown in Figs. 8 and 9 the two hollow hobs 9, 10 are formed as separate units carrying lugs B on which the grate bottom 1<a> is supported. The front portions 9<a>, 10<a> of the hobs are angled as shown, the front of the grate being completed by a member C. Firebricks D may be arranged on the hobs and front member C. This construction may be applied to stoves provided with an oven.
