Abstract

Combined or convertible open fire-places and cooking-stoves; combined solid and other fuel stoves; dampers; grates; boilers.-In a combined open fireplace and cooking-stove with oven above the fireplace, the hot-plate 1, which is raised about trunnions 7 in order to give the open-fire position, is provided with horns 3 engaging a sliding back plate 2, which, in the open-fire position, thus closes the flue 4 at the back of the fire and opens an outlet 6 at the top and in the close-fire position reverses these arrangements. As shown in Fig. 2, the horns 3 are outside the flue and thus clear of the smoke &c. An L-boiler 9 has a front wall sloping forwardly so as to be in contact throughout its whole height with the hot gases, and has a toe projecting into the fire. To facilitate removal, pipe unions 10 are fitted outside the flue and exposed by removing the side front plates. The side hobs 14 contain gas burners, the left-hand hob being shown for boiling and the right-hand hob arranged as an oven. Covers 12 may be swung forward to serve as trivets. Removable fire-cheeks 19 have vertical slots 21 receiving air from horizontal grooves at the back of the cheek.
