Abstract
152,839. Miller, W. E. Sept. 11, 1919. Cooking-ranges.-In a cooking-rango of the type comprising a boiler C behind a grate Band an oven A above it, a damper D, co-operating with apertures h, i in a back plate g, may be moved so as to direct the fire gases under the boiler and through the aperture h to the oven bottom flue, or over the curved top of the boiler and through the aperture i to the oven bottom flue, or, when both of the apertures h, i are closed, through apertures n to flues under side hobs, and thence to the side oven flues through apertures normally closed by small sliding dampers k. Beneath the oven is a sliding shield plate r, which may be drawn forward to serve as a utensil support and also, with its downwardly extending sides, as a hood for the fire. The sliding hotplate f has an upward rear extension f<1> and normally provides a closed fire, but when pushed back gives an open fire.
