Cooking-stoves; combined or convertible solid-fuel and gas stoves; combined fuel-burning and electric stoves; covers; grates; oven heaters, auxiliary.-A combined water-heating and cooking stove comprises a boiler 7 surrounding the fire-space 3 and having a leg 8 extending beneath the grate 19, a hot-plate 13, and an oven 32 fitted with pot-holes 51 and cleaning openings 52 and separated from the top of the boiler by a flue through which the gases pass on their way to the outlet 34. The inner wall of the boiler 7 extends inwardly and upwardly to a narrow outlet 4 in which is fitted a removable grate 24 for heating the oven only, refractory blocks 27, 27a being inserted when this grate is used. Side back and top oven flues 36 and 37, 14a, and 38 respectively are provided, the flow of gases being controlled by dampers 40, 42, 43, 46, 47, all arranged in the flue between the oven and the boiler. The oven bottom has an aperture 28 in which is fitted a renewable heat-resisting plate 31 which is removable to provide access to the hand-hole 15 of the boiler. The main grate 19, which is provided at the front with a dead-plate 21 to prevent entry of air, may, as shown in Fig. 5, be tiltable about its rear edge, the actuating-rod 54 sliding in a notched slot and carrying a curved plate to prevent air entering through the slot. In this case the front grate-bars 19<a> are curved' and the inner side walls of the boiler made vertical. A hot-closet 53, Fig. 2, may be fitted at one or both sides of the oven. According to one of the Provisional Specifications, the grates 19, 24 may be adapted to burn gas and auxiliary gas or electric heaters may be arranged within the oven.
