[Class 126] A cooking-stove of the kind having an oven and a combustion chamber the upper part of which serves as a fuel hopper comprises in combination a bottom grate g, a front grate h, a door j covering and allowing to be exposed the whole of the front grate, a flue y leading from immediately above the grate g to above the oven and connecting the combustion chamber with flue passages over or around it, and means in at least one of these flues for controlling the flow of gases through it. A boiler may be arranged in a chamber behind the combustion chamber to which the gases pass by an opening 18 leading from the flue y. In the stove shown, the gases pass over, down the outer side of, below, and up the inner side of the oven behind the passage y to the outlet t, and are controlled by a damper w. A damper v in the top flue, when opened, allows the gases to pass back through a byepass flue u direct to the outlet without passing round the oven. A " hot-spot " is provided on the hot-plate, for rapidly heating utensils, by a plate 14 which is arranged to be more heated than the surrounding parts of the hotplate and to stand slightly above them. Hinged insulated covers 10 counterbalanced by springs 5 may be lowered on to the hot-plate when it is not in use.
