Cooking stoves.-An ordinary sitting-room fire place is arranged so as to heat an adjacent oven which is built into or behind the chimmey breast with its front at right angles to the front of the grate. Fig. 3 shows an oven B heated by a barless fire-grate A, the gases from which pass from a flue D at the side of the grate, and from the oven bottom flue through narrow side flues d and the top flue d' to the chimney. A flue E serves to carry off steam &c. escaping from the front of the oven. The oven door is arranged in an alcove at the side of the chimney breast.
