Abstract

Combined open fireplaces and cooking stoves; boilers, arrangement of. - In a combination range of the kind in which the gases pass beneath the boiler to a vertical flue between it and the side of the oven, the boiler is supported on a firebrick stool of a dish-like form having a recess with which the vertical flue communicates, and a second vertical flue is provided at the side of the oven and in communication with the fire. In the stove shown, the boiler l is supported on a stool 2 comprising a base with upstanding outer walls 4 and a wall 6 forming two passages 7, 8, the latter of which extends beneath the lower end of the vertical flue 3 passing up the side of the oven. In front of the flue 3 is a flue 12 by which the gases pass directly from the fire to the top of the oven and thence round a baffle 14 to the outlet. At the side of the grate is an opening 9, of which the passage 7 in the stool 2 forms an extension, by which the gases pass to the bottom oven flue 10 and up the outer flue 11 to the oven top flue.
